About

Yazmin Lacey is a singer-songwriter whose late start in music has only deepened her unique voice and raw authenticity. At 33, her debut album, Voice Notes, continues the intimate storytelling seen in her earlier EPs: Black Moon (2017), When The Sun Dips 90 Degrees (2018), and Morning Matters (2020).

Lacey’s music captures spontaneous, unfiltered moments, much like the voice memos she uses to share melodies. Tracks like “Tomorrow’s Child” and “Pieces” explore generational changes and personal conflicts, while “Late Night People” celebrates nightlife’s vibrant connections.
Collaborating with Craigie Dodds, J.D. Reid, Melo-Zed, and Dave Okumu, Lacey embraces imperfection, preserving the rawness of her vocals. Her style defies categorisation, blending influences from her East London upbringing and Caribbean heritage.

Despite initial shyness, she began performing in her mid-20s and quickly gained recognition, supported by Evening Standard, The Guardian, BBC Radio 6 Music, and fans like Questlove. For Lacey, Voice Notes reflects her experiences, capturing the beauty of life’s imperfections.
