About

Initially inspired by Acid House, Warlock started DJing in 1989 and ever since has been consistently seeking out new music from emerging genres. Just as the early seeds of Hardcore were being sown, he got onto London pirate radio station Pulse 90.6FM and quickly found himself journeying up and down the motorways of the UK to play at many of the finest raves of the early nineties, Helter Skelter, Universe, Labyrinth, Sterns, Doncaster Warehouse, The Eclipse, Diehard and Kinetic, as well as seminal techno clubs like Knowledge and Eurobeat 2000 and illegal warehouse parties for Spiral Tribe and Bedlam.

During this time he spent a few years working at Kickin Records compiling the Techno Nations series and signing music from the likes of DJ Hell, Damon Wild, Bam Bam, Bushwacka! and more.

Warlock’s first productions first surfaced on Praxis Records (as one half of Lorenz Attractor) and Network 23, now sought after releases.

The early 2000s saw a change in direction and he set up a new imprint with Noyeahno called Rag & Bone Records. Initially releasing his own productions which by now had become a mutant take on 2-Step, electro and breaks with a tinge of the rave, the label expanded to include releases from talents such as Drop The Lime, Stagga, Squire Of Gothos and Aaron Spectre.

Recent years have been all about the new alias ‘Hooverian Blur’ which has seen breaks and jungle releases surface on Sneaker Social Club,Yellow Machines, Furthur Electronix, and West Norwood Cassette Library.

Meanwhile Warlock productions are still very much on the radar. Exploring faster techno/bass/footwork territories recently released on Peder Mannefelt’s PM+ series, previously outings on We Buy Gold, and a forthcoming EP on Mani Festo’s flightpath label.
