About
Since breaking on to the scene in early 2021, Drum & Bass producer Vektah (aka Lawrence Bachell) has been making some serious waves. Having already released on stellar imprints such as Soulvent, Sofa Sound & Hospital Records, the young producer clearly isn’t playing around. Pure energy is a staple to his sound and only complements the catchy riffs, big booming subs and hard hitting drums that can be heard throughout his productions.
February 2021 saw in his debut release titled ‘Fire In Your Eyes’ a squelching, yet smooth introduction to the producer's varied and intricate output. The release received notable support from the likes of Levela, Charli Brix and the legend that is DJ Marky. He quickly followed it up with ‘Request’ on the ‘Tonics: Batch 1’ VA EP that was released on Soulvent Records. The tune opens with luscious, swirling synths which quickly descends into honks of incoming bass, jungle breaks and ragga vocals which will almost certainly have you shouting at your nearest DJ, demanding them to “run it”. 18 releases later, Vektah is now without a doubt one of the most exciting new names in the scene. Highlights over the past couple of years include collaborations with the likes of Ruth Royall, PAV4N, Levela , T-Man & Submotive and also remixes for Fred V & Crate Classics. ‘Request’, his most popular release, also received remix treatment from Hospital Records’ man of the moment Whiney.
His talents do not stop there, however, with the now London based artist being just as nimble on a set of CDJ’s as he is in the studio. Vektah tailors each DJ set specifically for the type of event and his set time, meaning he is just as comfortable playing an 11pm warm up slot as he is shelling down a 1 or 2am headline show. This flexible approach has seen him play nationally and internationally for esteemed brands such as Hospitality, Outlook & Dazed and he has also recently secured a monthly residency on the legendary Kool FM.
