About
Producer and sonic theorist Sophia Loizou crash landed into a mountaintop rave in the early 2000’s. Awakening with the rising sun she found herself surrounded by an abyssal jungle of skeletal rhythmic structures, microsonic organisms and infinite waveforms. Mesmerised by these vibrationary forces, she vowed to dedicate her life to the study of future sonics. As a nomadic traveller from an alien future world, she was eventually captured by subsonic frequencies emitting from an unknown source close to the UK City of Bristol.
In 2014 she was found wandering in the woods just outside the city, with a battered hard-drive containing bio-technological sounds and dynamic feedback fragments. Soon after, the London-based ambient architect Astro:Dynamics archived these discoveries as the ‘Chrysalis’ collection. Subsequent collections of resonating intensities span archives distributed across the globe; from the lost transmissions of ‘Singulacra’ (2016, Kathexis) to the anti-resolutionist sonic entities of ‘Irregular Territories’ (2018, Cosmo Rhythmatic) and many micro-projects in between..
In 2018 Sophia’s sonic research into speculative sonic landscapes found a home within the school of sonic fiction at Goldsmiths (UoL) and pinnacle leftfield UK club music architects Houndstooth, where they remain today.
