Ruffneck Ting is a Bristol based jungle club that has been an integral part of the jungle and dnb music scene for three decades.
The club was founded in 1993 by DJ Dazee and Markee Ledge, who met by chance as house- sharing ravers but soon found their musical calling as Dj’s and producers, united by their passion for the emerging sound of jungle music. Since then, Ruffneck Ting has been suppor ted and nurtured by a growing loyal crew including Knowledge Magazine’s founders and dedicated jungle fans around the globe. The club has hosted countless memorable nights, from its residencies at the Trinity Centre to its recent appearances at festivals l ike Boomtown and Glastonbury. Along the way, it has become known for its commitment to promoting new talent, with many up- and- coming DJs, producers and MC’s getting their first break at Ruffneck Ting
The warm and friendly jungle vibes that started on Bristol dance floors in 93 , evolved onto wax in 1995 with the launch of Ruffneck Ting Records which helped take the sound to new worldwide audiences. Now with over 300 releases and artists l ike Serum, Jinx, Kjah, Verdikt, Saxxon of course Dazee contributing to the catalogue, the label has achieved a string of DL number ones and support from the scenes biggest players.
Since its early exposure with Dazee and Jakes shows on Bristol Pirate Stations, Ruffneck Ting has continued to boldly broadcast its jungle- jump- up hybrid sound. The club features in a now infamous 1996 documentary aired on HTV “ Sounds Of The West” alongside Roni Size, Krust, and Smith and Mighty and has featured on BBC Radio 1 , 1xtra, BBC Radio 6 , Ministry of Sound, Kool FM, SWU FM & UKF
To celebrate its 30th Year, Ruffneck Ting has an album underway, the third in their “Xtraordinary League Of Junglists” series. The first single from the XLJ 3 album “ Badder” by Euphonique & Bam Bam dropped in March 23 and will be followed by a series of singles and full album, ft label OG’s Dazee, Jinx and Kjah, plus fresh talent including Fryday and Jenni Groves. Additionally, “ 30 years of Ruffneck Ting” took place throughout 2023 at prestigious events hosted by Trinity, Motion, Arcadia, Run, Hospitality On The Beach and Love Saves The Day with more TBA for 2024
