About
Wayne Goodlitt aka Roska, a producer, remixer and DJ, known for his skippy drum patterns and fun sounding club music over the past 13 years has seen his music take him places and countries he thought he’d never see from working in the Europe, USA, and across Asia. Roska has earmarked himself as one of the UK’s most accomplished underground exponents. Since the initial boom of underground electronic music in the UK, Roska has been one of the UK’s leading niche authorities, both as a producer and DJ, but also as a mentor and label owner, watching over the scene and constantly unveiling new talent for all of us to enjoy. Roska’s production style has varied over the years, between stripped back, percussion-driven rollers to more club-influenced vocal creations, all of which will always pack a tremendously recognizable rhythmic punch, gaining support around the UK and also abroad, with international music hubs such as the USA & Japan showing love to the UK legend. This has led to a string of sonically innovative collaborations on international hits such as ‘Pree Me’ with Nakamura Minami, as well as incredibly popular tour runs outside of Europe, spreading the sounds of the UK to a truly global fanbase. At no point has this meant Roska has sat back and rested on his achievements however, with his RKS imprint still sitting as one of the world’s most popular labels for UK funky music and its surrounding cousins. He also plays a huge part in mentoring and supporting up and coming artists, with so many emerging acts crediting Roska for a lot of their personal achievements over the years. Alongside this, Roska has managed to stay very much with the times within his production arsenal, slowly stripping his style through the reprisal of the Bakongo alias to cover more techno and tribal house influenced creations, whilst also slowly moving into the realms of dancehall production with some extremely original ideas and production techniques, in case that wasn’t enough! Sonic innovators will always be hailed for their musical contributions in the UK, especially those who are seen as being within the founding father range of a genre’s history. Roska is without a doubt one of the UK artists falling into that legendary bracket, with no intention of slowing down any time soon.
