About

JD. Reid is the forward-thinking producer and DJ blurring musical lines at will. Hailing from North West London and with a catalogue steeped in hip-hop, trap, jazz, pop and more, JD represents the melting pot that is his London home, connecting the dots and bridging the gaps between genres.

The product of a musical family, JD’s formative years ingrained in him an ethos in moulding sounds with others, as he took in everything from soul and funk, to disco and reggae. JD made his first outings as a beatmaker in his mid teens and several years later after putting several remixes, instrumental beats and EP’s on Soundcloud, JD made his debut label release with his project, Maneki Neko, in 2014. Since then, his following projects (io, Calibrate and Tree) and a slew of edits and remixes have proven his output to be increasingly unpredictable. Through releases on Terrorhythm, Rinse, Soulection and most recently his own Baby Gravy label, his musical tapestry has evolved and expanded in real time.

JD's CV reads like a who’s who of prominent talent: slowthai, Skepta, Celeste, Mabel, Ms Banks, D Double E, Biig Piig, Sinead Harnett, Mr. Carmack and Kojey Radical just to name a few, speaking to his adaptability to any musical approach. JD has tasted both commercial and critical success as a producer, scoring a top 10 on the UK Singles Chart with Mabel’s smash hit ‘Finders Keepers’, plus credits on slowthai’s Mercury-nominated debut album Nothing Great About Britain and UK number 1 album ‘Tyron’. His DJ chops must not be slept on either, and he has spun for the likes of Boiler Room, NTS, BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Rinse and more.

With a relentless work ethic and the imagination to match, JD’s star continues to glow, as does his fearless approach to music.
