DJ Gilla is the founder and A&R of Worldwide Awards Label Of The Year First Word Records, home to artists including Children of Zeus, Allysha Joy & Kaidi Tatham. Originally a club promoter he ran seminal club nights Funky Mule and New Bohemia in his adopted city of Leeds for many years. A regular compere & DJ at We Out Here, he’s presented radio shows on Worldwide FM, Balamii & NTS and is also the host of Bandcamp's flagship radio show. Alongside fellow Rinse FM DJ Russ Ryan he is one half of London clubnight Overjoyed, running nights across the capital as well as hosting a sound at Notting Hill Carnival.
