Alicia is a DJ, producer and co-founder of London-based club night Terra Obscura. Known for her singular approach, her sets are decidedly expansive, with emphasis placed specifically on emotional and dynamic pacing, akin to the ebb and flow of a longform orchestral piece. Sonically, this manifests itself as a weaving of disparate styles; from the intricate charge of techno, through to the low-end warmth of dubstep, and across to the meditative plateau of ambient, each element is a piece of a bigger picture. This unique combination is in no doubt owed to her background as a trained classical musician, as well as several years spent working behind the counter of the renowned Phonica Records.
Alicia’s explorative and considered approach has seen her become a fixture on the London underground club scene, as well as more recently, a monthly resident on Rinse FM. Beyond DJing, she co-curates Terra Obscura, an experimental club night that looks to bridge the gap between ambient and dance music. Each event begins as a multi-sensory sound bath, allowing the crowd to become comfortable within the space, before the night gradually adjusts it’s aim toward the dancefloor. It’s no coincidence that it has already attracted some of the most radical names in global electronic music, including Piezo, Amelia Holt, Animalia-founder Kia and a collaboration with ambient label 3XL.
As a producer, Alicia’s music has seen release on the likes of Fever AM, the Berlin-based imprint run by Mor Elian and Rhyw. Her tracks build on the same detailed-driven, eclectic style as her sets, where as equal attention is placed on the mind as on the body. The imminent future sees more music, events and touring across the UK and beyond.
